#### Primary Responsibilities
Responsible for managing soils laboratory sample flow and performing laboratory tests.

#### Reporting to
SGS Agriculture Lead Soil Technologist/Branch Manager
#### Specific responsibilities
Manage soils laboratory sample flow.
Conduct/develop/improve new and existing soil and plant testing methods.
Perform laboratory and proficiency testing for soil and plant analysis.
Proactively initiate sales with current or prospective clients that contact the laboratory for expanding current testing activities or developing testing solutions for the client's needs.
Troubleshoot and monitor for irregularities in soil and plant test results, media, equipment and facilities.
Supervise and train technicians working in the Soils Laboratory.
Expand knowledge and professionalism in soil and plant tissue testing through continuing education, such as workshops, enrolling in relevant coursework, and by participating in professional soil/plant tissue testing committees and associations (such as NAPT, ALP).
Communicate with computer staff on software/hardware issues.
Communicate with clients regarding their analysis needs and questions.
Monitor inventory and order supplies as needed for soils laboratory.
Ensure quality and confidentiality of client and company information and take an active role in updating Quality System.
Update Soils Quality Manual procedures, including standard operating procedures and work job instructions, and assure quick response to Corrective and Preventative Action Requests.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Assist in other areas of the company as needed.
Promote responsibility, good work habits, a positive work environment and improve customer service.
At all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.
#### Profile
Bachelor of Science in Agriculture or Biological Sciences, or Chemistry is required.
Experience in laboratory equipment and techniques such as LC, MSMS, GC MS, HPLC and wet chemistry, pipetting and calculating dilutions is desired
#### Skills
Ability to work independently
Must be able to differentiate between colors accurately by sight
Position requires incumbent to be able to work evening shift; weekend / holidays, when needed to meet business commitments.
Computer Skills -- Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint
English Language -- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar
